Speaker: Brian Hauk is the Resource Protection Manager with the Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (JIMAR) working under the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument (PMNM)
Alien and invasive species represent one of the top three threats to the marine and terrestrial ecosystems of Papahānaumokuākea. Over 400 species of marine non-indigenous/alien species are recorded in the Hawaiian Archipelago, but only 10-15% are known to be established in the Monument. Join Brian Hauk as he shares information on alien and invasive species in Hawaiʻi and efforts to manage and prevent them from entering into the habitats of the Monument.
