Student opportunity: Western States Regional Genetics

Genetic Counseling Virtual Career Fair!

We are excited to share the news that on  September 30th, the Western States Regional Genetics network (www.westernstategenetics.org) will be hosting its Genetic Counseling Virtual Career Fair! Times are different each day.

This career fair will provide an opportunity for students and individuals of all ages to connect with over 50 Master’s Level genetic counseling training programs across the continent. Virtual rooms hosted by national organizations including the National Society of Genetic Counselors and Association of Genetic Counseling Program Directors will allow participants to learn more about this exciting and rewarding healthcare profession.

Interested prospective students can register to attend for either or both days at bit.ly/gcfair2021 .

The fair will also feature the Minority Genetic Professionals Network (www.minoritygenetics.org), for prospective students to connect with a room of current genetic counseling students and practicing genetic counselors of minority backgrounds.

We would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about this event throughout your network of educators in HaSTA. High school students are probably the group that would be best to connect with as they're starting to think about their future academic and career paths. However, the event is structured so all levels would have a valuable experience learning about careers in genetics.

We have created a Social Media Toolkit for you to easily share info about the career fair. The toolkit includes example email blasts, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter posts, accompanying graphics/flyers of appropriate size for each, and versions of each graphic/post focused on recruitment within diverse populations (these are labelled as ‘MGPN Versions’). Please find the toolkit attached to this email in a zipped folder.

If you need any alternate versions of the graphics found within the toolkit, please contact lila@hawaiigenetics.org for assistance.

Any other questions, feel free to reach out to me!
